The large-scale industrial heat pumps in the Schmid Mawera portfolio cover a wide operating range: air/water heat pumps for the heat supply of larger buildings, brine-to-water and water-to-water heat pumps for the heat supply, heat recovery, process heat generation, and other industrial applications. When combined with Schmid biomass boilers, large-scale heat pumps enable increased efficiency and/or diversification of heat generation in heating plants. Depending on requirements, systems can be designed using natural or synthetic refrigerants.
Are you replacing a fossil gas or oil heating system with a renewable heating system? Benefit from attractive subsidies.
The Schmid Mawera Group offers a wide range of heat pumps for various applications, including air/water, brine-to-water, water-to-water, domestic hot water, and absorption heat pumps.
The focus is on renewable, environmentally friendly, and efficient heating technology for everything from multi-family residential buildings to large industrial facilities. With these solutions, Schmid Mawera places particular emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency. The products are designed for low operating costs, high reliability, and the smallest possible environmental footprint, supported by a comprehensive service network and high spare parts availability. Schmid Mawera not only installs monovalent heat pump systems but also acts as a system integrator, enabling the company to design, plan, quote, and implement bivalent systems as well. This ensures that customer needs are met in the best possible way.
Bivalent systems combine a biomass boiler with a compression heat pump, thereby providing a high degree of operational flexibility:
During the summer months, when electricity is readily available at low prices, heat can be generated using electricity with virtually no biomass consumption. To do this, heat pumps utilize environmental sources such as air, waste heat, surface water, or groundwater. During the winter months, when electricity prices are high or there is a shortage of electricity, as well as to cover peak loads, heat can be generated economically and reliably using biomass, either with or without heat pump support. In addition to this high flexibility, the combination with a biomass boiler significantly reduces the required electrical connection capacity compared to monovalent heat pump systems.
The potential for hybrid solutions for heat supply from biomass in combination with both absorption and compression heat pumps—and the resulting efficiency gains and economic potential—is significant. The Schmid Mawera Group has the corresponding solutions in its portfolio and offers project-specific system integrations for heating plants.
Active flue gas condensation systems can significantly increase the fuel utilization efficiency of biomass heating plants. Approximately 20–40% more heat can be extracted from the same amount of biomass. As a result, such systems can also be highly attractive from an economic standpoint.
