Schmid Mawera is also focusing on large-scale heat pumps
Decarbonizing the heating sector is becoming increasingly important for companies. In addition to political mandates, economic pressure to use energy more efficiently is also growing. Against this backdrop, we are expanding our product portfolio and are now also offering large-scale heat pumps from manufacturers Ochsner and Skadec with capacities ranging from 50 to 3,200 kW. Both brine/water, water/water, and air/water systems are available, which can be used in either monovalent or bivalent configurations.
Large-scale heat pumps/industrial heat pumps are considered a key technology of the energy transition: They enable the use of ambient heat or industrial waste heat, operate with high efficiency, and reliably deliver CO2-free heating for comfort and process heat. New technological developments also allow for high supply temperatures of up to 120 °C.
As a system integrator, Schmid goes beyond the individual heat generator. The company combines industrial heat pumps with proven biomass systems to create hybrid energy solutions. This combination allows operating strategies to be flexibly tailored to seasons and load profiles: While heat pumps can ensure heat generation in the summer using ambient or waste heat with virtually no biomass consumption, biomass covers the demand in the winter in a cost-optimized manner.
The interaction between heat pumps and biomass also unlocks significant efficiency potential. Of particular interest is active flue gas condensation, which can increase the fuel utilization efficiency of a biomass heating plant by up to 40%—a clear competitive advantage in times of rising energy prices.
Through project-specific integrations, we demonstrate how companies can reduce CO₂ emissions, save costs, and make a significant contribution to climate protection through innovative heating concepts.
